 FAQs

For more than five years, communities across the Shenandoah Valley have collaborated to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform the unused rail corridor from Front Royal to Timberville into a trail linking our towns and rural areas. This trail – a beautiful, safe, and fully-connected 49-mile destination – would attract tourism, grow visitation to our downtown businesses, give students and workers a safe route to school and jobs, and offer families easy access to the outdoors.

The Valley’s communities have always expected that specific decisions about the trail's design, development, and operation would be determined through a public planning process. And, thanks to years of studies and analysis, we do have some information to foster good public-policy decision-making to get planning for this trail project underway.
